DAY 1 - NOVEMBER 1, 2001 (BELOW):  -  L&N Freight Depot plus passenger depot, Athens, Alabama.

DAY 2 - NOVEMBER 2, 2001 (BELOW): Fall colored leaves at Linda's  home in Newnan, Georgia.

DAY 3 - NOVEMBER 3, 2001 (BELOW): Sarah and Linda in Newnan, GA; NS Railroad in Fort Valley, GA; Little-used track 10 miles south of Fort Valley; Sunset at Tifton, GA.

DAY 4 -  NOVEMBER 4, 2001 (BELOW): Arrived at Disney World. Stayed at the Polynesian Village Resort on the Disney World grounds with the monorail running through the hotel...which means we won't have to use the car for the length of our stay here. One of the photos is of the interior of our room and one shows me and Sarah in a mirror in the room. Hurricane Michelle was moving over western Cuba and caused gusty winds and showers in the Orlando and Disney World area. The fireworks were canceled Sunday night due to high winds.

DAY 5 - NOVEMBER 5, 2001 (BELOW): Views of the Polynesian Village Resort complex grounds; unusually large crowd at the Magic Kingdom for a first Monday in November...lots of children; part of the Share a Dream Come True parade at the Magic Kingdom; other scenes at the park.

DAY 6 - NOVEMBER 6, 2001 (BELOW): Today we went to Epcot, but not before we worked out at the Spa and Health Club between the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts. Also there are photos of the lake (Bay Lake) where our resort was located on. Spent most of the day at Epcot, where we met some of the Disney characters. There was an international food and wine festival going on with many countries present. The outdoor model train was still next to the American Pavilion at Future World in Epcot. We ate dinner at the Coral Reef Restaurant, which is in Epcot and has seating next to a large aquarium, where you can view fish while you're eating their cousins!

DAY 7 - NOVEMBER 7, 2001 (BELOW): Today we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom, then went to Epcot for the night parade and Illuminations. The girl is a worker at the Norway Pavilion next to the parade route. Again, crowds were rather large for early November.

DAY 8 - NOVEMBER 8, 2001 (BELOW): We took a walking tour called "Gardens of the World" at Epcot, where a guide told us about landscaping and flowers at Epcot. We ate lunch at the Morrocco restaurant, which, of course, had its' usual belly dancer.

DAY 9 - NOVEMBER 9, 2001. This was a "no-camera" day. We slept late, went to the Magic Kingdom and just messed around the complex.

DAY 10 - NOVEMBER 10, 2001 (BELOW): We went off Disney property today and went to Merritt Island, on the east coast of Florida, about 50 minutes away from Orlando. Most of these photos are of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. They were having a birding convention in the Titusville area, where Merritt Island is located. We took a driving tour of the refuge. That night, I went to the Magic Kingdom again to photograph and make short sound digital MPEG movies of the Spectromagic Parade and Fireworks. Note that it will take a few minutes to download the movies if you click on their links You need the Windows Media Player to view these sound movies.

DAY 11 - NOVEMBER 11, 2001. Another "no-photos" day. Ken had his first foot soak, leg massage at the Floridian Health Club and Spa. We went to Downtown Disney with it's many stores, restaurants and nightspots.

DAY 12 - NOVEMBER 12, 2001 (BELOW): Today we went to the Magic Kingdom for lunch (at Tony's on Main Street, "home" of Lady and the Tramp) and a couple of rides and to buy gifts. Then we went to Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island until dark. Note the many baby strollers. We washed clothes after returning to the Polynesian. Main news today was of an American Airlines jet crashing after takeoff from JFK Airport in New York.

DAY 13 - NOVEMBER 13, 2001. Just messed around, going to Epcot and ate at the Coral Reef Restaurant, then Magic Kingdom for our final full day at Disney World. We leave early tomorrow morning.

DAY 14 - NOVEMBER 14, 2001 - Left about 930 a.m., driving as far as Panama City, Florida, where we stayed at the Best Western on Highway 98A. Our room was on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico and below are several scenes of a beautiful sunset taken from our hotel. The door number was our number at the Polynesian Village at Disney World.

DAY 15 - NOVEMBER 15, 2001 (BELOW): We left Panama City, Florida and drove through Destin to Fort Walton Beach and stopped at the Gulfarium, where we watched a Dolphin show and saw many types of sealife. Then we drove on to Foley, Alabama (just west of Pensacola) and spent the night at the Holiday Inn Express, which was across the street from a large outlet mall.  The first few photos are from a pier in Panama City.

DAY 16 - NOVEMBER 16, 2001 (BELOW): We left Foley (near Gulf Shores, AL) and drove on Highway 98 through Alabama to Belingrath Gardens, where the flowers were lovely. We drove through Fairhope, AL on the way to Belingrath. We took the riverboat tour of the immediate area of Belingrath, then drove west on Highway 90 into Mississippi, where we spent the night at Biloxi.

DAY 17 - NOVEMBER 17, 2001 (BELOW): This was our second to last day. We left Bilxoi, MS around noon after visiting the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library in Biloxi, with these scenes below. Then drove to Bay St Louis, where Sarah went to a quilt shop and they were having a monthly craft show. I got to finally photograph a CSX train coming off the Bay St Louis bridge into Bay St Louis and the newly refurbished (1996) original Bay St Louis depot, now serving Amtrak's Sunset Limited. We were going to drive from Bay St Louis to Memphis, but stopped at Grenada MS instead for the night. Tonight the Persaides Meteor Shower was to be the best in over 30 years. I planned to get up and see.
