Dozens of Union Pacific white reefers
on the Arkansas Midland track along Highway 165 in North Little Rock,
Arkansas on February 26, 2007. These are being stored for UP. The line
is the former Cotton Belt line that ran from North Little Rock
southward through England, Arkansas and on to Altheimer, Arkansas with
a connection with the main Blue Streak line of the Cotton Belt. The
line was taken up about 1990 and these reefers are stored right up to
the end of track.
It's amazingly hard to count white reefers since they
blend into each other, plus the line runs under Interstate 440 so I had
to keep one eye on the road. When I drove south on Highway 165 I
counted 85 reefers. On the way back I counted only 76, so let's say
about 80 are stored. (All photos by Ken Ziegenbein)

End of the former Cotton Belt line.

Looking south from this location shows the abandoned right of way.
