Brinkley, Arknasas. It was a cloudy, rainy day. There were sixteen
trains today in about 8 hours, not bad for a run-through location.

9119, 9428, UP-SP 2701, UP 4814, 6936-Centennial *** NS 7613, 9484,
6709, 8848, 8700 *** BNSF-Santa Fe 3175, BNSF 4390, BNSF-Warbonnet 796.

surprisingly good shape *** String of AOK boxcars, including one with
North Coast Railroad Authority logo *** String of coil cars ***

Got this Cardinal briefly sitting on a rail
of the main line through Brinkley.

LEFT-Conrail 5960 and CSX 8599 passing the
station at 8:38 a.m. RIGHT-UP 3536, 9:18 a.m.

the old Monroe, Arkansas MoPac depot, on display.

MKT green hopper HLMX 4140, in

the years.

LEFT-Panels on a gondola. RIGHT-From Tom balzen on the Railspot Yahoo
group: "This is a Rockdale, Sandow and Southern gondola. Alcoa
Aluminum line from Majorie, TX, near Rockdale, TX (junction with the
UP) to Sandow, TX, site of a large Alcoa smelter plant. I think
that
the length is only about 5 or 6 miles. This is a sister line to
the
Point Comfort and Northern RR on the coast serving an Alcoa plant at
that location. At one time both railroads rostered MP-15s (I
believe)
with the same paint scheme and the same number series. They ran
an ore
train from the Point Comfort plant to the Sandow plant using the MP-15s
on the MoP/UP. It was not uncommon to see the train with two
locomotives with the same numbers and paint schemes in the consist, the
only difference being the RR initials on the side of the cab."
Bryan Flint of Railspot said: "looks like the same hopper
I saw in
Hearne heading down the Bryan sub on Sunday pm. The RSS gons were
also
in the yard at Hearne." Bruce Bennett and Jimmy Barlow also gave me
information.
This was one of 3 of these cars, all connected. (KZ)
