These were taken September 5 and September 9, 2002.
Newton, Kansas, September 5, 2002, on our way back to North Little Rock from
a vacation in Montana. The upper left is the Newton Amtrak station. BNSF/Santa
Fe Warbonnet No. 669 crosses the 8-track crossing at First Street in Newton
at 1001 a.m. These all seem to be well-used tracks. It would seem to me that
this crossing could be blocked many times a day - crossing them in a car,
you definitely look both ways! As far as the bottom two photos, does anybody
know what line these belong to - they run down a residentual street in Newton,
Kansas.
Back at Union Station in Little Rock September 9, UP4694 passes at 1055 a.m..
with SP2743 the second unit. This unit sure looks worn....
At 1109 a.m., the daily LRWN train arrived with engine 102. This St Joe Route boxcar on the LRWN train was interesting.
