Little Rock Streetcar construction update - Tuesday, November 11, 2003.
LEFT-Three pieces of streetcar rail - the left one is the current
rail, the middle one is rail used on curves, and the third one is an original
piece of rail from the streetcar line in North Little Rock. RIGHT-Looking
west down East Markham in Little Rock November 11.
Looking east on East Markham, now named President Clinton Avenue. This goes
into the Rivermaket district and you can see how close cars are parked to
the streetcar line. Discussions are going on whether or not to close parking
on the right side of the street since a truck or car angled wrong would stop
the streetcar.
LEFT-Rail will be put on this area on the Main Street Bridge going
across the Arkansas River. RIGHT-'Pardon our CAT tracks' sign.
LEFT-Curve from Markham to Springs Streets. RIGHT-Completed
carbarn in North Little Rock.
Carbarn is to the left and the old MoPac line to the right. This line is
still used for switching to a plant in the area but no longer crosses the
Arkansas River into Little Rock. That bridge, which is behind me about a
mile, was given to the city a couple of years ago.
This is looking east from the carbarn to an old freight house across the
tracks.
