NOVEMBER 10 AND 24, 2002 AT UNION STATION, LITTLE ROCK - NOVEMBER 18 AT RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS.

These were all taken Sunday, November 10, 2002 at Union Station in Little
Rock. There was a small boy and his grandfather there watching trains, along
with our usual group. I don't know who they were, but the boy will undoubtably
become a railfan.
Monday, November 18, 2002, at Russellville, Arkansas under the US Highway
64 overpass. This was a westbound UP freight, about 1 p.m.
UP's local is using a former SP unit in Russellville. Here it is heading
eastbound to pick up cars left off by the Dardanelle & Russellville RR,
which goes to the right behind those trees.

is seen going east, about to cross under the US Highway 64 overpass, still

Stoby's Restaurant opened in 1984 at this spot in Russellville, using some
old coaches as dining areas. I don't know if they were originally Rock Island
or not, but there are Rock Island emblems on the cars. The owner let me inside
one of the cars on a siding there being converted into a dining room. The
images below are of the Missouri Pacific depot across the tracks from Stoby's.
This depot is being renovated as part of the 'Main Street USA' programs around
the country. The MoPac buzzsaw is still on the building.

Rare Train on Rare Tracks - BNSF6946 heads a BNSF trackage-rights mixed train
northbound past Union Station at 1224 p.m. What's very unusual is that it
came through on the Amtrak siding in front of the station, due to the fact
that the preceeding empty coal train was still fouling the crossover switch
on the main lines. Sort of an 'up close and personal' view of a train.
LEFT-BNSF starting to go across the Amtrak switch onto the south main line.
RIGHT-You can still see the empty coal train on the left track and the BNSF
on the right track. Just after the BNSF train got out of the way, the UP
empty coal train started again. As soon as it started, someone ran across
the tracks and jumped on the rear engine. Someone in our group called the
UP police and reported the incident.
UP3532, 1242 p.m. There were a total of 16 trains in four hours. All digital photos by Ken Ziegenbein.
