On October 26, 2006, the final tracks were laid for the Central Arkansas Transit's streetcar line out to the Clinton Presidential Center and the Heifer International Center in Little Rock. This will add about three-quarter mile to the already existing two mile system and is expected to increase ridership significantly when it opens. Opening day is supposed to be the first part of January 2007.  I've heard that ridership on the 2 streetcars running at any one time (out of a total of 5 streetcars that C.A.T. owns- Nos.  408, 409, 410, 411 and 412) have carried just over 290,000 passengers since the system opened in the Fall of 2004. These scenes are of the just-laid crossing at the corner of Cumberland and 2nd Street in the River Market in Little Rock on October 26).

I'm standing on 2nd Street here looking southeast.

Looking north on Cumberland.  The I-30 exit to the River Market is overhead.
