MAY 31, 2004. Pompey's Pillar National Historic Landmark near Pompey's
Pillar, Montana.
Pompey's Pillar National Historic Landmark has the only known signature
of William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, engraved on the rock
pillar near Pompey's Pillar, Montana in July of 1806. You walk up the stairs
to view the protected signature.

the signature of Clark, which is under glass in the center of the photo.
