Photos taken June 24, 27, 28, 2003 of trains in between North Little Rock and Bald Knob, Arkansas; New Ulm, Texas; Robstown, Texas and Kingsville, Texas.

Following: JUNE 24 - North Little Rock to Bald Knob, same train. You can get a good idea of the time it takes a UP freight to make this trip since there were no delays to the train once it left North Little Rock.

UP2365  through New Ulm, Texas, heading for Sealy, moving right to left. This train ran with engines 'backward' out of town and had not done any switching. Any ideas as to why? Time was 856 am, June 27, 2003.

UP6236 northbound through Robstown, Texas, June 27 at 200 pm. This was at the Robstown Water Works crossing.

Following: JUNE 28, 2003 - Kingsville, Texas at the soon to be renovated Kingsville MoPac depot.

The Kingsville depot is supposed to be renovated and completed in 2004. My grandfather and I used to ride the MoPac Valley Eagle here from Houston in the late 1950s and early 60s before passenger service was stopped in 1966. We stood next to the bay window under this very roof waiting for the northbound train. I want you to know that when I took these pictures, I could see train headlights south on the main line, and I was determined to wait for a train to pass. Well, it did, but only after I waited 3 hours (I had my trusty lawn chair!). Apparently the train was in the yards south of town waiting for a crew.

This 1974 citation was on the depot and gives a history of  the depot.

Uriah Lott memorial on the depot land.

Scenes of the depot....built in 1904, it still appears in pretty good shape. Windows were broken out and pigeons were inside.

Finally! UP4140 at 1251 pm June 28.  The track is jointed rail and cars swayed noticeably just before crossing the street before reaching the station.

If I remember correctly, there was a small cafe inside this depot around 1960. Am I right?
