Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Kingsville, Texas. Included today is a UP freight running northbound by the restored Kingsville depot at 530 p.m., just as the new bandstand dedication was beginning across the tracks. Plus BNSF 4371 pulled into Kingsville from the south and did some switching maneuvers with perfect last afternoon lighting about 7 p.m.

A large crowd was present for the dedication of a new bandstand across the UP tracks from the renovated Kingsville, Texas depot (the dedication of the depot  itself was held the next day, July 4). It was a windy day.

A miniature riding train was there, plus another view of the restored depot. Union Pacific was announced as a contributer for the Kingsville centennial and helped pay for the new bandstand.

Just as the bandstand dedication was to being at 530, this LONG up freight headed by UP 9240, rolled by. I didn't count the cars (mostly grain) but it took about 8 minutes to pass as it was accelerating out of the Kingsville yard to the north.

From the Kingsville depot side of the tracks, they've put up UP, MoPac, Frisco and St Louis, Brownsville and Mexico signs.

At 659 p.m., this northbound headed by BNSF 4371 stopped and did some switching in the Kingsville yard. It pulled ahead across Kenedy and King Blvd before backing into the yard and stopping.

A bird was scared by the train as it eased forward (southbound).

Perfect late afternoon sun on BNSF 4371 as it nears Kenedy Blvd.

Just crossing Kenedy Blvd.

Starting to back south into the yard.

Backing across Kenedy Ave. Another perfect lighting shot.
