The Hermann Park Railroad, located
across from the Houston, Texas Zoo, has a neat train ride along a
scenic route through the park. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes and
is well worth the $2 price. They have several trainsets there,
including one modeled after Missouri Pacific's streamliners of the late
1940s and early 1950s. The person there who I talked to and who
let me take the photos said that he once thought he would have to take
the MoPac trademark off the locomotives, but after he had written Union
Pacific to see if he would have to remove the trademarks, UP told him
that they were grandfathering older park engines from their trademark
rules and he wouldn't have to change a thing. It was a cold,
drizzly day in Houston with temperatures in the mid 50s. The date was
November 3, 2004, a Wednesday. Questions? Email me.

steam locomoitive in the background is SP 982. More photos of
this engine late in this document.

This MoPac miniature streamliner was built in either the late 40s or
early 50s for a park in Phoenix, Arizona. Notice the UP emblem on the
front.
