Clayton Castleman, 110 Little River 68, Ashdown AR 71822 wants to know the
origins of this 9-window "drover" car near Ashdown, Arkansas. He nas moved
this caboose (in the summer of 2003) and movee it next to the refurbished
GN&A (aka. Memphis, Paris and Gulf) depot in downtown Ashdown soon. (The
KCS now owns the former GNA line). For an updated photo of this caboose as
of December 11, 2003, see HERE.
As you can see, the caboose, coach, baggage car was red at one time... is
it a former Cotton Belt caboose. He said it was built between 1890 and 1920.
It is wooden and has been at this location near Ashdown for 35 years, the
last 15 years being vacant. It was a bait shop until 1987 or so.
Any help in restoration would be appreciated, either by writing to Mr. Castleman
above or email him at ccastleman@arkansas.net
or email me at ken@trainweather.com
Thanks.
