These were taken from Sunday, December 1 through Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Each one will be dated. I finally got a digital photo of a UP train going through my hometown of New Ulm, Texas on Tuesday, December 3!! I waited 3 hours for it. I noticed that a train came through town about once every 5-6 hours. There also was a UP loaded rock train on a sideing there with a CSX locomotive. It was sitting/idling there most of the day and as I was typing this about 830 Tuesday night, it had not moved.
Also seen are a couple of shots of the Texas State Railroad in Palestine, Texas on December 2, plus the Hearne, Texas depot and some photos taken at Union Station in Little Rock before I set out to Texas.

This is CSX7557 idling on a siding outside New Ulm, Texas, December 3, 2002 with a loaded rock train facing east toward Sealy, just before the highway crossing. It was about 4 p.m.

Fall colors were peaking on some trees in the New Ulm area.

UP3466 speeding through New Ulm westbound toward Smithville at 420 p.m. December 3. I'd estimate it was going 50 mph with an empty string of gondolas.

The Texas State Railroad near Palestine December 2, 2002.

A couple of scenes of the Hearne, Texas depot, possibly being restored like the sign said, but there were no signs of any work going on. Does anybody know the status of this project? I assume it was moved from its original location, but only a few hundred feet?

December 1, 2002, about 22 miles north of Palestine off Highway 79 was this Iowa, Chicago and Eastern locomotive on a UP consist.

UP4065 on a siding north of Palestine December 22.

December 1, 2002 at Union Station in Little Rock before I headed for Texas. BNSF warbonnet 793 was still very bright red and showed no signs of fading. However, the second BNSF unit in the orange/brown colors was extremely faded. Time was 1041 a.m.

LEFT-Conrail8340 and NS8775 at Union Station, Little Rock,  925 a.m. December 1. RIGHT-A small pebble is held up by ice on a small puddle of water....the firs time this year this water had frozen over. Later in the day, I reached 70 degree temperatures in Texas.

NS9715, 1103 a.m. and UP6510 on a coal train, 954 a.m. These were not the only photos made, but the best of the day.
