Today we took the Circle Tour along the Going To The Sun Road, leaving Glacier Lodge at 9 a.m., returning at 5 p.m. Included were two crossings of the Continental Divide, one at Marias Pass and one at Logan Pass. We were above 5,000 feet sea level all day.
These flowers and Geodetic Survey marker were taken at Glacier Lodge
before we left on our tour at 9 a.m. August 29.
On the Continental Divide at Marias Pass, Montana.
The Izaak Walton Inn in Essex, Montana sits right next to the busy
BNSF and Amtrak rail line.
Apgar Village on Lake McDonald.
Above two show Lake Mcdonald from the Lake McDonald Lodge and McDonald
Creek. The two below are along the Trail of Cedars near Avalanche Creek.
These were taken near on at Logan Pass, the second time we crossed
the Continental Divide today. The squirrel was fussing about something
on the Pass so I sent to investigate. It let me get pretty close to take
the picture, but I don't suppose it was happy to see me. We saw the mountain
goat just outside the Pass.
These mountain goats were see outside Logan Pass.
This is St Mary Lake toward the end of the Going to the Sun road. This
was probably my best shot of the day. The driver took the picture of me
and Sarah at this lake.
We had to do laundry. There wasn't one at Glacier Lodge, so we drove
to the town of East Glacier, just across from the hotel. A thunderstorm
was occurring over the moutains to the west.
