I finally saw an Arkansas Midland train on the former Cotton Belt line along Arkansas Avenue in North Little Rock, Arkansas, February 26, 2007.  Here are some photos.  (All photos by Ken Ziegenbein)

LEFT-I saw the crossing lights flashing on my way back from photographing 80 stored UP reefers along this road and pulled over to see the working Arkansas Midland train. RIGHT-Looking west along the former Cotton Belt line just east of the Highway 165 crossing at 2:10 p.m. February 26, 2007. The train was backing away from me.

Arkansas Midland No. 414 pushing hoppers onto a siding.

RIGHT-Looking west along Arkansas Avenue. The track will start running in the center of the road farther down the line.

Train is backing, about to cross the road, 2:21 p.m.

AM No. 414 in the bright sun.

Continuing to back up to a plant down the line. It is heading toward the center of North Little Rock, but tracks end before it gets there.

LEFT-Crossing Palm Street, now running (backing) down the center of Arkansas Avenue. RIGHT-I'm driving westbound along Arkansas Avenue.

Approaching the Linden Street crossing. The train will take a siding here into a cement plant (according to two men who told me as I was taking photos)

LEFT-Backing into the cement plant. RIGHT-Downtown Little Rock can be seen to the left. The bridge to the left is the former Rock Island bridge over the Arkansas River, now abandoned.

He was switching cars around in this plant.

RIGHT-Leaving light at 2:44 p.m., now heading to the east.

LEFT-Crossing Linden Street again. RIGHT-Now I'm looking east along Arkansas Avenue.

LEFT-I wanted to get this pink house in the photo. RIGHT-I kept driving eastward along Arkansas Avenue, even after the pavement ended. I crossed people's yards, broken tree limbs, cans, etc, but finally managed to get to this exit point. I guess chasing a train makes me take chances I wouldn't ordinarily take. Did not get a flat, though!
