Here are a couple of train photos taken in College Station, Cat Spring and Sealy, Texas Saturday, April 13, 2002 plus a photo of a BNSF train in Brenham and a UP train in Hearne, April 14 and some shots of the Winsboro, Texas KCS restored depot. Included are a few shots of bluebonnets. I had wanted to get a shot of a UP train through my hometown of New Ulm, but by the time I heard the train come through, it was too late and I had to chase it to Cat Spring, about 11 miles away. I barely made it in time.

cars just behind the McDonalds at 948 a.m. April 13.

train had a string of gondolas.

The tracks are way back of the trees. Does the UP own this much land in
New Ulm?

This crossing on a little used street in New Ulm, Walnut Street, got
crossing gates a couple of years ago. Back then the road was gravel on
the other side of the tracks. I'd like to know how this warranted a signaled
crossing, much less one with gates. Did the county, in this cast Austin
County, come up with the money?

Notice that the Grade Crossing Hotline has a different 800 number than
the sign on the signal. Would it make any difference which one you called?

UP 3238 crosses the main street at Cat Spring, Texas, 238 p.m. I missed
the train in New Ulm, had to turn around and chase it on Highway 1094 at
65 mph, but as I was getting to the crossing in Cat Spring, the lights
were already flashing. The old Katy tracks have a more direct line between
New Ulm and Cat Spring and do not parallel the highway.

LEFT-UP's (ne. MKT's) interchange with the BNSF is located at
Sealy. Here UP 3238 is waiting for BNSF permission to go onto the BNSF.

Highway 36 looking east toward Katy. The old KATY main is on the left and
the crew of UP 3238 said the track from Sealy to Katy was limited to 10
mph. They were anticipating more rock trains to Katy should the expansion
of Interstate 10 occur.

Highway 109 near Brenham, Texas, April 14 at 558 p.m. This is the first
time I've seen a helper unit on a tank car train. It was moving very slowly.
