Getting ready to leave Coldfoot at 8 a.m. June 1. Top left are the Crawfords, one of about 60 taking the tour. Others are shown on the porch of the Slate Creek Inn ready to board two Princess buses. Lower right is one of many beautful scenes off the Dalton Highway out of Coldfoot.

Upper left shows a moose and pipeline about 220 miles south of Prudhoe Bay. Top right is the northern most spruce in Alaska with instructions of not to cut. The other scenes above were taken as we went across Atigun Pass, about 1030 a.m. June 1. This pass also is the Continental Divide on this route. It was snowing lightly and windy.

Some of the many animals we saw enroute to Prudhoe Bay. Upper left is a Golden Eagle taking off after eating part of some animal. Upper right is a herd of Musk Oxen, about 30, with calves, a rare sighting. Middle left is a red fox. Middle right is some caribou, as is the lower left, next to the Alaska pipeline. And lower right is a grizzly bear with her new-born cub in the city of Prudhoe Bay. All were taken June 1. (Ken Ziegenbein photos)
