Here's 12 scenes taken in downtown
Houston, Texas Saturday, November 3, 2007 around Union Station (Minute
Maid Park) and southeast of there along Commerce Street. I've included
a screen capture of a Yahoo Map with satellite view of the area.

Houston Union Station is located lower-left with Minute Maid Park. I
walked from there northeast to Commerce Street, then southeast along
Commerce to where it crosses the railroad tracks along with
Hutchins Street (right center of map).
I didn't see a lead engine on a train, so is it UP or BNSF? Also, I saw
no remnants of any tracks that used to go to Union Station, it's all
parking lots now. How did these current tracks connect with the Union
Station tracks back in the 50s?
There is a large condo complex being built northeast of the Commerce
Street crossing where the trees show up in the satellite map. I didn't
see the Navigation Blvd seen on the map, just Commerce and Hutchins
Steets.

Heading southeast on Commerce Street. A train was passing at 11:47 a.m.

The end of the train that just passed, going around the curve
north-northeast. What is this part Houston called?

Looking toward the southeast along Commerce Street. Was this a town at
one time or just warehouses?

Inside the curve, looking north from the Commerce Street crossing. Note
the new condo complex on the right.

Looking to the south-southeast. I waited here for another train, but
decided to move on back to downtown. As soon as I got back to Union
Station, I heard the train's horn (yes, they still blow for this
crossing).

Downtown Houston and the Minute Maid Ballpark from the southeast.

Here's Union Station buried in various buildings as taken from the
southwest.

Union Station from the front of the Inn At The Ballpark Hotel.

The old waiting room, being set up for a dinner party. Straight ahead
were the long train sheds where I used to catch the Santa Fe and
Missouri Pacific.

The old concourse.

From southeast of the station where numerous tracks used to be.
