Rounding the curve next to Highway 365 at Palarm Creek, near Mayflower,
Arkansas (between Little Rock and Conway). Time was 8:55 a.m. May 26.
Notice how close the highway is to UP's Van Buren Sub at this point.

RIGHT-I came across this scene by accident as 844 traveled past Palarm
Creek off Highway 365 on
its way from North Little Rock to Conway, Arkansas on Friday, May 26, 2006. The time was 9:12 a.m. I
caught a fishing boat in that lily-pad
covered lake and the short trestle and knowing 844 was just behind me, I pulled off, took my light readings,
focused and the train zipped by. Couldn't have planned it better.

RIGHT-Line of pacers with the train as it approached Conway, Arkansas
at 9:23 a.m.

9:26 a.m. off Highway 65b in Conway.

The crowd in downtown Conway. At 9:55 a.m. the train stopped on the
main line for tours in Conway.

Exiting the north portal of the Conway Tunnel at 1:12 p.m. The train
sat in Conway for a few hours for tours and waiting for at least two
northbound mixed freights. Everybody was 'professional' at the
tunnel and we formed a photo line. I would like to get the names of
everyone who was there. If you can help in this regard, email me at
ken@trainweather.com. Thanks.

For a large format 640x480 MPEG sound movie of the train exiting the
tunnel, click the link below. WARNING: the file is 20 MB in size:
